Conditions Discussion

Looks like a nice weekend to finish off a very long season! Snowbird still has good coverage, however, there are some rocks around, so be careful if you're taking good skis. They'll be uploading on the Tram (chair passes honored), and be running the Little Cloud and Mineral Basin Express lifts. You'll want to start off skiing the Mineral Basin side, and then as the snow gets soft and slow, switch over to the Little Cloud lift. There'll be some groomed trails, and most of the off-trail areas do not have moguls, at least not many. Summer skiing is a ton of fun, get up there and enjoy it while you can!

In the backcountry there's still a ton of snow around, so we'll have good skiing into July. Get out early before the snow gets too suctiony and slow. South and east aspects are best in the morning, with north and west better for mid day.

Forecast Discussion

This weekend we'll continue to see mostly sunny skies as a ridge of high pressure remains over the region. Temperatures will be quite warm, so get up there early before the snow gets too slow.

In the longer term, a cold front is expected to bring snow to high elevations of the Wasatch in early September. :)

The conditions discussion gives you an idea of what the snow conditions should be over the next forecast period. It discusses if you will be skiing in deep power or over hardpacked ice. Use it decide if you should break out the carving skis, or to see if you should wait till Tuesday to get that mysterious 24hr 'stomach bug' that forces you to miss work.

The forecasts discussion gives you a look beyond the simple forecast. Read about how the incoming storm will impact the slopes or why the high temp is going to be below zero. It allows you to look at our reasoning, and our confidence in the forecast. We write this for those who what to know more than whether it will just be sunny or not.
