The USW Blog

NOTE: we will be debuting a fresh and re-designed website in early December! It should be simpler, easier to navigate, and compatible with mobile devices! GET EXCITED!!!

It seems like just the other day that we were in shorts riding our bikes by the idle snow guns, but now they are blasting out the man-made to add to the 1-3 feet of natural snow that has fallen in the Wasatch over the last couple weeks. With all the natural snow and a solid cold spell for snowmaking this past week, Brighton and Solitude announced they will officially open tomorrow, November 8th!

That means we are officially open for business too! We are forecasting only for these two resorts tomorrow, but will add forecasts for the other Utah resorts as soon as they open. As mentioned above, we will be completely overhauling our website and debuting this new version sometime around December, but until then we will be displaying our forecasts in the current format. And as always, you can count on USW for a high-quality mountain weather forecast made by real scientists at the University of Utah Department of Atmospheric Sciences.

We look forward to making you the first to know about incoming dumps of The Greatest Snow on Earth this season! For daily updates on the forecast for the Wasatch and beyond, follow us on Twitter @utahskiweather and "like" Utah Ski Weather on Facebook.

Well, the snow if FINALLY starting to melt away. We hope you had a great season and we'll see you back here on UtahSkiWeather.com in the fall!

Snowbird is still open and going strong and is planning to stay open at least through July 4th. More surprising and unprecedented is Snowbasin's re-opening for weekends. So we now have TWO Utah ski resorts open in mid-June. And of course the backcountry is still going strong.

We will be updating the site one or two times per week as the resorts are only open on the weekends. Enjoy the snow and get out there and ski it before it all flows downhill into the Great Salt Lake.

Well, the season is winding down as spring temperatures are expected over the next week...get those turns in....resort wise, Snowbird is open Friday, Saturday, and Sundays through Memorial Day.
