About Utah Ski Weather

"Who's in charge here anyway?"
Utah Ski Weather is run by the University of Utah Department of Meteorology. For questions pertaining to the website please contact Andrew Murray (webmaster@utahskiweather.com). For questions about the forecasts themselves please contact Greg West at (greg@utahskiweather.com).

"So where does your revenue come from? Where are all the advertisements?"
The University of Utah Student AMS runs Utah Ski Weather.com, and is comprised of approximately 50 meteorology students. This site does not earn any revenue, the money to keep the site running comes from our student funding, and our forecasters are volunteers. Special thanks to Andrew Murray, a member of our organization, who designed this site free of charge.

"So it's just a bunch of amateur student forecasters putting out a mediocre forecast?"
No, the forecasts are conducted by graduate students who have already earned a M.S. or B.S. in Meteorology. Many of us have several years of forecasting experience under our belts already. Further, most organizations that provide weather forecasts focus on accurate forecasts for population centers, and as a result don't have the resources to spend time producing a quality mountain weather forecast, let alone a ski area-specific forecast. At Utah Ski Weather.com, ski forecasts are the only thing we do. All this results in a more accurate forecast than you'll find elsewhere. In addition, we have undergraduate meteorology students participate in our ski forecasts, which gives them valuable experience for forecasting in complex terrain, something very few meteorology students anywhere in the country have the opportunity to do.

"Where can I get your forecast for myself ?"
Visit the weather tools page for various links to RSS feeds, cell phone links, and other variations that our forecast is published in.

"So I have a suggestion for your website?"
Feel free to visit the weather tools page for links to our development pages and suggestion box. We listen to what you want.

"I have a different question!"
Please either contact Andrew Murray (webmaster@utahskiweather.com) or Greg West (greg@utahskiweather.com) with your further questions.
